I saw many times they just let contestants sleep on roadside or airport. Last night, they are lucky to sleep on the floor of a boat. Is TAR producer getting cheap?
Last season the Asian doctor got bitten by a wild insect and had an allergy reaction on his face. I hope he sue CBS.
i think in some cases it's purely for the lulz, or they have a good makeup team with them... how do they all manage to look fresh and clean when sleeping 'rough' ?
I asked because in the beginning of this episode, racers said it has been a while that they had a good night of sleep. I think it is CBS' fault. They saved a few penny but it hurt the show. People can say funny things only if they sleep well.
I always thought that it was up the racers if they choose to use their racing allowance to sleep in a hotel and so that's why sleep outside to save money.
The racers sleep at the Pit Stop, which ranges in locations from a desert to a boat to a castle. If the racers get to a bus station and the next bus doesn't leave for 7 hours, for example, then the racers can choose to spend their own money on a hotel or save money and sleep on the sidewalk.
At the beginning of each leg,the racers used to be given the same amount of money to pay for cabs, hotels, etc. I just realized it's been a long time since I've seen them say how much money they got, so I'm thinking that has changed and they no longer have to worry about money.

They're still receiving money at the beginning of legs. I think either Dana & Matt or Zach & Rachel mentioned in 1 leg earlier this season how much money they were given at the start of the leg.
As a tourist in Bali you can do this activity like in a lot of other places around the world. I don't think sleeping on the boat is worse than a hotel/motel. Tourists pay good money for that experience! I thought it seemed positively wonderful!!
This is just a part of the race, something that's always been a part of it since it started. If you sign up for the race, it is something you simply should expect. Don't go on the race if you can't drive a stick, if you can't swim, or if you're afraid of heights.
