Racist

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The movie portrays white teenagers as being confused and bored.
But this movie could have been much better It seemed to me the mexican people were the stronger people and but we were all made to feel sorry for them and the white people they're all confused and total wimps and this movie seemed racist against whites. I'm sick of seeing ethnic movies where all the white people are affluent and weaker then the rest, cus not all off them are like that. This is no way to deal with racism. People need to stop bringing it up in these stupid movies and life in general and racism will go away in time.

i agree. this obsession with white guilt and the way white people are portrayed in hollyweird, as wimps and pussies when confronted by non-whites, is both racist, and a pathetic attempt to appease non-white communities, by portraying them as being these cool hip dudes that we whites should look up to with some kind of worshipping reverence. jjust pathetic. p.s. eminem needs a visit from alice baker. and for those of you who don't understand, just google it.

This thread is dumb. When does the movie insinuate that "all white people are like that"??? White guilt has nothing to do with it, he was a punk, thought he was untouchable, got in over his head, didn't know when to shut the hell up, and got humiliated. I feel comfortable predicting the real life outcome would be similar for any young rich kids (regardless of race) pretending to be hardcore in gang territory. Appeasing non white communities?? Spare me...what of the scores of movies portraying non whites as weak and unable overcome ___________, (enter malady here) until some white "savior" comes to show them the way. Heaven forbid whites should be protrayed as anything but the strongest, best, and brighest...

This whole thread is dumb. First off, its much more about socio-economic class and the mindset of dumb misguided teenagers than race. White people aren't really portrayed as weak. They started some fights and also went to defend someone's honor. And if you really believe that they were, then I could say that it was racist against Latinos or portrayed them as nothing but drug dealers and gangsters. But the truth is that it wasn't about either. Any "fish out of water" situation portrays the 'fish' in a culture shock when 'out of water.' The world is full of people who act like something they're not, and this movie just happened to star some. Its also full of confused and bored teenagers. Not all are, just as the one filming was not. I also did not 'feel sorry' for the Latino's the way the original poster did, aside from questionably being charged with rape. I would feel bad for anyone in that situation.
