Movie wasn't bad...

...until the rape/gang bang scene.

OK, when I first started this movie and after reading the reviews I thought it was going to be terrible. And I admit the only reason why I wanted to watch this movie in the first place was because I wanted to see Anne Hathaway naked and snorting coke. The white gangster wannabes were really embarrassing. At first I thought they were joking they were so horrible. People don't act like that unless they are fooling around. But as those characters took a back seat and the girls met up with the Mexicans the movie got interesting. I thought the Mexican gangsters did a really good job acting. Yes, even though they were drug dealers you still wanted them to hook up with Allison and Emily.

But Havoc went horribly wrong at the rape scene. It was like the movie producers said, "well we are glorifying that lifestyle too much so we have to completely *beep* up the characters and make everyting miserable at the end". The girls wanted to join the gang and they knew what they were getting in to. Allison just stopping mid way through when only Hector was on her was just unbelieveable especially considering early on in the movie where she had no problem having sex with a douchebag.

The ending was abrupt and we really didn't know what happened to Allison. Was she going to become a boring white person which she hated or was she going to go back with Hector? It's like the people who made Havoc just decided that making a good final third of the movie wasn't worth the trouble and gave up.

Just my 2 cents...

The point of the kids acting so over the top was to show how stupid they truly were when idolizing gang culture. I thought it showed how dumb teenagers can be. "We're teenagers. we're invincible! don't ya know?"

By the end of the movie Allison has grown up. she has no reason to go back to Hector or her gang culture lifestyle. she's going to start being herself. she is trying to patch things up with Emily. "I'm not leaving."

If you wanna get technical Allison was shown only having *oral* with her douchebag boyfriend. I think she was a virgin which could've explained why she stopped midway through with Hector.

Emily joined the PLC and followed her along to the 16th street gang to impress Allison. she's infatuated with her.

Why didn't you like the sudden change in tone? after Emily is raped the movie becomes more realistic. in the end Emily and Allison are just two sheltered kids in way over their heads.

I know alot of people hate this movie but I personally like it for Anne's and Bijou's performences. along with the beautiful cinematography and musical score by Cliff Martinez.

I agree with everything you said. Except for the fact that Emily wasn't raped.

I think the end was necessary. Come on, it was obvious it was all leading up to something bad happening. I agree that it got way more interesting the moment it stopped being about the white gangster wannabes.

It was like the movie producers said, "well we are glorifying that lifestyle too much so we have to completely *beep* up the characters and make everyting miserable at the end".

I don't think they were glorifying it at all. They never made the lifestyle look appealing, it was just more 'real' than what she was used to.

Big Gay Al, it has recently come to our attention that you are gay.

Are we calling it the rape scene? Oh well.

During Allison's video confessional, she was talking about how sex with her boyfriend was just a performance. She wanted something more real. By searching out Hector and 16th Street, that's what she was trying to find. But when they started having sex, she realised it didn't feel any more real, and it wasn't what she actually wanted, so she stopped.

Emily was even more innocent and naïve than Allison was, but she just went along with everything Alli through was a good idea because of their pseudo-lesbian attraction. She made the decision to go into the gangbang, but she lacked Alli's awareness and didn't see the potential problem until she was right in the middle of it.

Yea, I think it was underrated myself. The wiggers were supposed to act fake and they achieved it.

I think the movie's pretty underrated. Anne, Bijou, Freddy & Michael Biehn gave great performances in here. I liked how it got real serious when Freddy's character came in. I think people really don't like it solely because of the white kids trying to act all hard and be who they weren't.

^^Agreed, Emily was definetely naive in a way, she didn't think anything past having some fun with Hector and his friend. But Allison didn't trust the situation and quickly stopped.
