Hathaway, Gordon-Levitt, Tatum

Holy crap. If you interview them in 20 yrs (or today) they will all say this is the lamest movie they've ever done. Well, not Tatum so much. He was just acting like he always does. Black.

Mike Vogel and JGL played really solid losers here. Nice job, fellas.

That said, Freddy Rodriguez played the cheesiest gangster I've ever seen.

Raymond Cruz played his atypical
Raymond Cruz sniper role.

Can't believe I'm never seen this piece of crap movie until now.

Are these actors supposed to be considered the pinnacle of acting now? You're speaking as if they're thespians or something.
Every actor has sub par films no matter how much you think they're amazing. Don't see the big deal really.

Well they are all still fairly acclaimed actors, so of course some people are gonna find it odd when they star in a really crappy film.

Acclaimed as in they have all received strong reviews in regards to their performances, particularly Hathaway who has had 2 Oscar nominated performances already. Even Tatum who is definitely a lower tier than the other 2 has given some well received performances. Acclaimed doesn't mean that you have to be one of the greatest actors of any era, just like how an overall acclaimed movie doesn't be one of the greatest movie of all time.

Well I think a good majority of people would be more liberal with the use of the word than you are. Plus it's more accurate to the word's actual definition anyway.

I wasn't arguing, just stating that it's not how the word is most commonly used from my experience. But you're free to use the word however you want to, I really don't care. And funny, that you seem to be implying that I'm being pretentious while you're taking my reply oddly personally just for disagreeing and being condescending for no reason. Maybe you had a bad day so far and should try to relax?

I may be arguing, but then again, what the f--k were you doing? You started this to begin with. I wasn't trying to say that it was a fact, just a perception of my personal experience, which by the way you essentially did the exact same thing before:

However I'd have to take issue with the idea of any being in the "acclaimed" category, which I believe we generally reserve for the few great actors of any given era. I don't think any of the three are even close to that.

Do you have a poll or something tangible or empirical to verify this as well and justify who "we" represent?

What I'm saying is, yes in a way I am arguing, but if I'm arguing then by that same definition you are also arguing, especially given that you instigated this. By saying "we", you are essentially implying that your opinion is also somewhat unanimous. Are you honestly claiming you didn't have that intent when you wrote that statement? Again, I never once claimed or implied that it was a fact, just a perception from my personal experience from how other people have used the word. You keep saying that I'm having difficulty accepting the fact that you disagree, yet you're the one who resorted to a condescending tone for daring to claim that most people would agree with my use of the word. I'm allowed to explain my opinion and why I disagree just as you did, am I not? I mean you realize that you're in a DISCUSSION board, right? Explaining your viewpoint is a key component to having a discussion. If anything, you seem to be having trouble with dissenting opinions, since you seem to want to able to state your opinion without others responding and explaining why they disagree.

I have heard the word "acclaimed" being used for something that just simply garners positive attention. For example, I have heard many people refer to The Social Network or American Hustle as "critically acclaimed movies", yet I hardly hear anyone call either of those all time greats. This applies to a host of other films and actors.
