The first line came from Barbara Jean's father, who didn't believe in divorce, period. So you're dealing with a hardliner there.
The paint store crack was in regards to Brock repainting his condo every time he moved in/out, depending on the state of his marriages. It wasn't so much that he'd been divorced a number of times, it was that he always seemed to be rebounding back to his condo.
