The racial episode (SPOILERS)

Season 5 episode 5 "No Good Deed" is hilarious. As a Brit i didn't understand the inappropriateness of that episode at first due to what happened with Hurricane Katrina. I realise that people especially people who were affected by the hurricane would find this episode offensive.

But the white lady Barbara-Jean acting stereotypically black should be separate from the inappropriateness of the episode, her "acting black" had nothing to do with Hurricane Katrina, it was to do with her personal definition of an African-American.

I don't believe that this episode is racist, the character Barbara-Jean was unintentionally ignorant, that was all, she was hilarious though to the point that it's cringeworthy.

People found it offensive? If people watch the series, they know Barbra Jean and she has a heart of gold but dumb as rocks. She is ignorantly genuine. She was really trying to help she was CLUELESS what she was actually doing. Even they understood that thats why they werent PISSED.

Barbara Jean was just doing what she always does. It was her goofy way of trying to assimilate and make them feel at home. Would most normal people approach it that way? No. But it doesn't make it inappropriate. Some African Americans DO wear their hair in corn rows and wear track suits and talk that way. It doesn't mean ALL or even most do. That was just demonstrating how naive she is... which to me was hilarious! One of my favorite episodes.
