We are so confused with this show. They don't finish stories that should conclude in the next episode. Two examples, the one where her dad is standing over the body of her brothers father and points the gun at Woody (cliff hanger). Another is the Las Vegas one where they all are pointing guns at each other.

I can't really recall the one with her father, but the episode that had everyone pointing guns at each other was a crossover with the TV show Las Vegas. They had a few episodes where the story continued on Las Vegas, so maybe the other ones you are thinking of are those episodes

So, stuff that started in Crossing Jordan, continued on Las Vegas (at one point I think Las Vegas aired right after Crossing Jordan)
