I have these DVDs, and actually, they are region 2 (UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and Middle East) PAL format.

I'm from the USA and I get a "wrong region" error in all my region coded DVD players when I try to play them. So if you aren't in the countries/territories listed above, you will need a region-free DVD player in order to play these DVDs.

Also, if you used to watch David the Gnome on Nickelodeon in the old days like me, there are a few things you should know about how these DVDs differ:

Opening Theme: The song is the same, but the accompanying video clips and the show's logo are all different from the old Nick theme. It doesn't have that familiar spinning "The World of David the Gnome" logo over the cat eye and all the other clips that I fondly remember, which was disappointing.

Ending Theme: The same video is present, with the background pattern and the characters doing various things in the corners, like David getting pricked by a hedgehog after falling into some bushes (actually, it is extended a little - some parts go on for a little longer, like when David is dancing with Lisa, he accidentally spins her off the screen at the end). However, the music, which is supposed to be an instrumental of the opening theme, is now a completely different and unfamiliar instrumental. I don't know where it comes from... possibly it's the theme from some other country's version or something.

Other Notes: It seems that the episode titles have been retranslated. For example, "Ivan the Terrible" is now called "A Lesson for Kostja" even though there is no mention of any Kostja in the English version... since they obviously changed it to Ivan. Not really a big deal, but I was still a little disappointed (shrugs).

I don't know if anyone cares too much about these differences, but I thought I would let people know anyway. Maybe I'll post it on Amazon.co.uk too.

I just got the DVD today, aswell. Ah, wonderful memories. (Except for the "Mountains of beyond" episode. God knows how many hours I cried when I watched it the first time).
It was dubbed into danish when I saw it as a kid, but somehow the theme song was completely different. It wasn't english or danish.
Maybe it was the original spanish version.
It would make sense, since the only word I can remember from it is "soy". Wich is the spanish word for "is".

Anyway, it's wonderful to finally have this on DVD.
Now, if only we could get "The girl from tomorrow"...
