Shalom?
Am I crazy or did David end every episode by saying "Shalom"? As a 4-7 year old, I had no concept of Judaism, but looking back, I seem to remember that being his way of saying goodbye.

shareJust got the DVDs for Christmas, so I can actually answer this.
He always says, "Shlitz-Shlize!" (Ok, that spelling probably completely butchers it, but that's what it sounds like). It means, "Goodnight" in gnome. In the first episode, he explains it's the only word in gnome he can share with you.
Sounds more like "schlitzweiss" to me. German, huh? I'm still debating on whether David's German or Scandinavian.
I was put on this earth to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted
The correct spelling is "Slitzweitz" Basically, it means "goodnight" in the gnome language. If you read the book, it also has another word; "te diews", which means "thank you".
I am man. Hear me whimper pitifully.
That's so funny. I remember repeating it to the tv as a little kid and my aunt (who was probably 18 at the time) thinking I was incredibly weird.
