Van Wilder reminded me a bit of the Adam Sandler characters...

You know, the jokester with a heart of gold who deep down inside wants to help the misfits/losers around him...anyone else here make that connection?

yeah, funny someone called him a Jim Carrey ripoff(not true) but I thought he was a lot more like Adam Sandler.

Not really, Van Wilder is a likeable, cool, rebellious outsider. Adam Sandler's characters are annoying, grating idiots. His characters are all the same: loud, unintelligible, obnoxious. And his characters having girlfriends is inconceivable.

I don't see the Adam Sandler comparison at all. Van Wilder was witty... Used interesting language, etc

Adam Sandler always seems the play the ignorant dumb character

I don't hate Adam Sandler like some people do... wouldn't call myself a fan though

He reminded me of a younger Chevy Chase. I dont know if it was because it was a Vampoon movie or if just in some scenes he looked just like him. But I LOVED this movie and Taj (Kal Penn) seems like Raj from The Big Bang Theory a lil. I wonder if he auditioned? I loved how everyone came together to get him to stay and graduate. But I love Ryan most of all! <3
