Van is an awful human being

Van is a spoiled rich kid who we are supposed to feel sorry for when he has to pay for one semester of college after having 6 years paid for him. He then has to suffer by not paying his assistant (who then basically becomes a slave who loses his culture), and he has to get a job planning parties for other rich kids.

He goes after a girl who already has a boyfriend who is serious about marrying her, even though Van could have gotten any other girl on campus. The girl then poisons the former boyfriend with laxatives, likely preventing him from getting into medical school where he would have become a doctor and helped save sick peoples' lives.

He causes a panic by pulling a fire alarm, which could have ruin peoples' laptops because of the sprinklers, and would have distracted the fire department and potentially stopped them from helping out at an actual emergency. He also disrupted peoples' classes, where they were actually trying to learn so they could get jobs and contribute to society.

And, most seriously, he doesn't neuter his pet, and is therefore contributing to the serious issue of pet overpopulation that causes lots of pets to be put down every year.

Also, he is played by Ryan Reynolds, who is just a jerk.

You can't argue with the truth

and he performs bestiality by jerking off a dog to get dog semen into the doughnuts.

Youre right. It would have been a much funnier movie if none of that had happened

Wow, talk about taking a comedy way too seriously man.

First of all, yes, he is spoilt. But clearly he had a fractured relationship with his Dad (as he states to Gwen when they are sitting in the ice hockey rink box), saying that his Dad basically gave up on him and his Mum when she moved out.
It's no wonder his life had no direction and as a young man he would have felt his Dad owed him that much.

Secondly, Taj offers his assistance at no charge. His choice, not Van's.

Yes he may go after another guy's girl, but she falls for him, and starts to see clearly that Richard isn't right for her,
once she starts spending more and more time dong her report on Van Wilder. And yes she poisons the boyfriend,
and rightfully so. Richard tried to get Van expelled and then he cheated on her with another girl. Who could blame Gwen
for doing that??

The laptops would be insured by the University. No biggie..

Clearly you just hate Ryan Reynolds, hence why you flat out went to trash his character without giving it much thought at all. Unsurprisingly, you didn't mention all the things that he had done for others in the seven years he was there, which was mentioned in Gwen's end of year newspaper (if you even bothered to watch the whole film).

Van raised money for numerous charities (swim team), helped other students out when they needed it (sick boy, the guy with VD). And then he throws that roller disco party for the Lamda's. As he states, "Yeah they paid me but I didn't want anyone know that I threw the party. Those Lamda's are cool in their own right, everybody else just needed to know that".

If you're going to criticise a character or an actor, at least come up with something better than this load of utter bollocks!! smh
