General Impressions

What did you think of the movie? I liked it, over all. Alexis Bledel is not my favorite ... but other than that, I liked it. There were a lot of interesting things to think about, as far as time, and life, and death, and "forever," and what is natural, and what is right, etc, etc.

I didn't love the ending - I liked how it came up to present day, but I wished he had have come back while she was still alive, even if she was an old lady, just to say goodbye ... it was reconciled, only by the last statment "you just have to live, and she did." .... forgive me, I'm a sucker for happy endings, so without that line, I would have been depressed ;)

It has been a LONG time since I read the book, but the narration lines sound like book lines, which makes me happy (I'm a supporter of movies made from books if they are done well and as a tribute to the original material)

As for my impressions. Kingsley as the man in the yellow suit could have been more .. i don't know.. harsh. He seemed very passive right up until the end with the gun. There was no buildup.

I like Alexis, and I cut her a break because this was her first feature. I wonder what the movie would be like if she could go back and recreate her performance knowing what she knows now about acting. She wasn't bad. Just a little flat.

I would have liked it if Jessie came back to see Winnie in 1990's day. Just to share their live stories. I think that's how it is in the book. I seem to remember Winnie, at 100 years old (well, just under) lying in the grass in the same matter she was at the beginning of the movie, but that might be my own imagination.

There seems to be a spark on the board tonight.. Let me guess.. Canadian? It just aired on Family Channel, which is why I ask (and why I happen to be around tonight as well)

Yep, I'm canadian, and I posted while I was watching it - just as it finished!

Alexis Bledel was the reason I watched this film.

i liked the atmosphere of this movie more than the movie itself. the music and the visuals and the directing were well done IMO, but the acting and the characters were a bit flat. and what was up with tuck's accent? also, ben kingsley? creeeeepy.
