Titanic connection

I'm not talking about the obvious similarities in the story. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this already, but has anyone noticed that the pink coat she wears is the same one that Rose wears in Titanic? And, Victor Garber, who plays Winnie's father is Thomas Andrews in Titanic.

Ya if you click on trivia it mentions that its the same coat

is it really the same coat? i've always thought that they looked similar but that rose's was more pink.

the part where winnie's mother plays the piano and the men are running in the woods looking for winnie reminds me of titanic as the band play's 'nearer my god to thee'. maybe it's the music mixed with the faint yelling.

Yea I noticed the similarities too. The whole movie has the style of Titanic to me. Like americangel said the part where they running in the woods looking for winnie and the music is playing remainds a lot of Titanic. Also the way they talk and the character of Jesse was very similar to Jack for some reason.

But I'm not complaining. I liked this movie and Titanic is one of my fav movies.... so I'm glad they made it this way. :)

I completely agree. The whole time I was watching this movie I kept thinking about how much Jesse reminded me of Jack. These movies are SOOO similar.

Both stories take place in the same era:

Titanic - 1912

Tuck Everlasting - 1914

Well, then obviously Winnie must have picked up Rose's coat from the sea.

There was another connection I felt this movie had to "Titanic." Both female leads had the choice to either spend their life dwelling on their first love or to continue living a vibrant, exotic, fantastic life in which they accomplished their own dreams. It is easy to say that Winnie and Rose should never have "forgotten" Jesse and Jack, that they should never have moved on, married and had children. But that's the whole point...life goes on, and it is your own choice to go with it or try, unsuccessfully, to cling to a moment that is as insubstantial as smoke and only succeed in missing out on a great deal.

I admire the strength and grace both Winnie and Rose possess. It is easy when you are young to live only in the moment and forget all that could lie ahead. It is never easy to let go of a lover, to remember that they are not your entire reason for being; both women did so, and found love again.

I've no doubt, though, that Winnie loved Jesse Tuck up until her last breath. I imagine that, like Rose, Jesse was the one she dreamed about. Jesse was her eternal love. But he was not her life.

I also thought it was interesting while Jesse was twirling Winnie around in the water, he told her that he would never let go of her. Jack says the same thing to Rose while they're in the water after the boat sinks.

"I'm not some drunk sorority chick. You can't roofie me."
