Just a silly comment I know, but Madison makes this big deal about being hungry to get Ben to take her out...and then she eats a few fries and leaves the rest!
And yet Ben doesn't think there's anything odd in that in itself?

This post is more than a year old, but I'd like to give my take on it anyway.
It was obvious she wasn't really hungry, she just wanted Ben to take her out on "a date." I'm pretty sure Ben realized she wasn't really hungry. Take their conversation into consideration. Think about the stuff they talked about before Madison said "It's OK, I have someone waiting for me in New York, anyway." Ben knew she was interested in him. Madison didn't need to eat anything; she already got what she wanted, which was get Ben to take her out. Ben was aware of that (judging by his facial expressions when she was complimenting him for being "the cutest guy in school").
