Ben is a jerk

I felt that Ben was a jerk to madison, she wasn't that psycho to begin with, when she started chating with him online, he acted like a jerk, by the look of his facial expressions.. Also both madison and Amy are hot and he is like butt ugly.. i didn't like the ending either, I was hoping that MAdison would end up with her boyfriend in the hospiytal, and having ben all alone with no one, and Amy with madisons brother.

I don't feel he was being a jerk. He told he up front that he has a girlfriend and she appeared to understand. She was on the hunt for Ben from the time she needed her locker opened. From there she became more obsessive. In the pool she went after him, he told her this is wrong she took it further and pushed the envelope. She tells him to "Tell me you love me, you dont have to mean it just sya it". From there her true wacked out self appears.

i agree that ben was a total and utter *beep* amy when he shagged madison in the pool, and then to madison when he was like "yeh i know i banged ya but what d'ya know i'm not interested". i personally reckon he should have drowned.

i'm not a slut...i'm just popular

reply

Yeah, but the whole fact she had to say "tell me you love me, you dont have to mean it" should have given her a clue that it was gonna be 'wham-bam-thankyou-ma'am' rather than the start of a beautiful relationship - was bound to be a mistake he ended up regretting.

i don't know how one could argue that ben was NOT a jerk...he cheated on his girlfriend.

reply

You lot need to wake up and smell the coffee.....SHE made him cheat on Amy.

reply

I agree FoxysGurl. She was obsessive and totally out of hand. She knew that He had a girlfriend, but she still put a move on him. If you had a boyfriend/girlfriend and a girl/boy was pushing against you, wanting to have sex with you wouldn't you get mad and be a bitch about it? Like he told the girl he had a girlfriend.

reply

she made him cheat? what did she do stick a gun to his head

Oh crap, then he definitely deserved to die. <sarcasm>

Of course it's his fault that she's nuts. It's always the guy's fault.

but she was psycho to begin with, it appeared to me she tried to kill her ex-boyfriend too, and even though Ben was a tad bit rude to begin with, he wanted to forget all about Madison, and he didnt want her in his life to make him regret what he did every day, he didn't handle it well, but he probably was scared, and yes he cheated on his girlfriend, but people make mistakes, and I don't buy that if you really love them you won't cheat, it happens, get over it.

People cheat. Get over it.

"Don't grab that stalker and scream at them, like Ben did. That's giving them an excuse to get mad, and it's a very bad thing if they get mad, as we see later with the steroids".

Giving them an excuse to get mad? Oh jeez. It's called self-control, and she didn't have any. Responsibility for one's own actions (I know that's very passe nowadays.)

"The Devil Made Me Do It". "I couldn't control myself" Please.

Again I reiterate, it's always the guys fault. Whatever he did. Or didn't do.

reply

"I sat down with my family, and we all had a discussion about this. We all decided that it was Ben's fault that Madison started going all psycho and turning into a stalker".

I can see it now--the Addams Family goes pop psychology, LOL.

"So, the point I'm trying to make is that Ben brought all this drama on himself." She's crazy and he should have understood that (that's what Oprah said), so he deserved to die. <sarcasm>

reply

He was a jerk to his girlfriend and he was a jerk to Madison.

He's an all rounder I guess!

She is a psychopath who shot two cops, murdered his friend (and then tried to frame him for it), attempted murder on her first boyfriend (who is now in a coma), the guy in the hospital, and Amy (twice), assaulted Ben and his mom, committed the crimes of: theft, grand theft auto, breaking & entering, fraud, stalking, and--drum roll please---sexual harassment (no means no, right? it works both ways ladies), and HE's the jerk? What kind of sick, twisted reasoning makes you come to that conclusion? What's wrong with you? Are you a stalker like her? Is this what 30 years of daytime TV pop psychology and radical feminism have wrought?

Okay, let me say: "Yes, Ben was a jerk to cheat on Amy." I also think he was a complete idiot! The fact that Madison asked him to say he loved her,a nd didn't have to mean it, should have TIPPED HIM OFF that something was amiss in her ol' head. Then she sort of gave him a chance to "leave" her later on, but he didn't take that either.
She was a psychotic nutbag, no doubt! But Ben was indeed still a jerk. And yes, not that attractive. Sorry to say it, but I do not know why these two gorgeous women were chasing him.

I'm still puzzled as to whether Madison tried to kill her first boyfriend or not. I thought at first she did for sure, but then other posts suggested that they simply had an accident and the loss of him tipped her half-cracked head all the way over the edge.
I would have thought if she wanted to kill him, she would definitely not been in the car with him and risked herself?? Not sure there. We aren't given enough details, IMO.

You're also forgetting, these people are 17 and 18 years old...temptation is not to just simply "not do" as most of the posters above are trying to make it. These are TEENAGERS, not adults...so the temptation of another guy/girl is going to come about and its going to be hard, and I think Ben handled it perfectly and mature, although he didn't exactly get to tell his girlfriend Amy everything but he attempted to and thats all that matters....

reply

Just curious did Madison have anything to do with that accident that put her boyfriend on a venilator or was it really an accident and caused her breakdown?

reply

Hell yeah she had something to do with it, thats why her cousin Chris Dante brought Ben to him (Jake...Madison's ex "boyfriend") so he could warn Ben and show him what Madison was capable of if he doesn't be careful....

Ben was hardly a jerk. He cheated on Amy but majority it was her forcing him to.

He gave in yes but...

He said "We can't - we can't do this. We can't." And he tried to stop her, but she groped him and said "it's alright, it will be our little secret."

It was partly his fault for even going for a swim with her and eventually giving in.

However, his behaviour on the computer was completely valid since she was being too strong. He told her about 5 times that he had a girlfriend and she kept pushing.

reply

I don't think he was a jerk toward her. Remember how they met? He helped her with her locker, he was being nice. After that she became obsessed with him. He told her he weasn't intrested because he has a gf. How is that being a jerk? Yeah, it wasn't right from him to cheat on his gf, but that's the only jerky thing I can find in him. So, he said nicely that he has a gf at the beginning more than once, and she acted as she was fine with it. She kept saying that they are still friends. But anyone would loose their cool after the person you hardly know, comes into your home without being invited and talks to your parent when you're not there. That's pretty creepy. I think their relationship or friendship or whatever you want to call it, might have worked out if she wasn't a nutjob and just wanted to be a friend.

reply

He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who didn't have the self control to resist Madison's aggressive advances. It seemed like he put himself in a bad position though, when he agreed to swim with her. Sort of like she opened the door for cheating and he went with it willingly, instead of cutting her off at the start. I mean, if you're willing to mess around with a girl who you know likes you, you're asking for trouble. I think at the end of the day he wasn't a jerk, he was just selfish and not thinking about his girlfriend at the time. Doesn't make it ok, just sayin.....

reply

You may as well just say all guys are jerks. Just how many high school guys WOULD resist Madison's advances in the pool? Any?

reply

She was also psycho and he wasn't a saint, but committing murder is going too far. She already knew he a girlfriend, but she slept with him anyway. He wasn't right for sleeping with her either, but did tell her he was taken.

Ben is not a jerk, he did the right thing, he did what any sane teenage boy would do. A young man has a raging lust in his loins. In fact he should have hit that again, but do it on dry land so he can get the full experience. Pool sex isn't all that great.

If he was truly a wise man, he would have gotten Amy and Madison drunk at that party and got a threesome going. You could make the argument Ben isn't truly living if hes not taking advantage of young beautiful suburban girls while he can. The boys scrotum is a ticking time bomb, hes gotta initiate the release valve ASAP.

And yeah, Madison is a crazy bitch. When she asked "Say you love me, you don't have to mean it", Ben should have said "Get out of the pool, I gotta put something in your mouf".

And damn, why didn't he get her missionary position while she was playing the violin? I'm feeling Ben's regrets and he's not even real.

"The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.

reply

Agree with the OP. I felt Ben could've handled the situation a whole lot better. After he ran into Madson at the party, he should have just had a discussion with her and explained their relationship. Instead, he freaked out every time he saw her, hid around corners like a fool, avoided her, etc, all of which I'm sure made her feel like crap. There are better ways of handling things.
