Location???

Hey guys, I couldn’t find any other discussion about this. The movie is so visually obviously LA, from Circus Liquor having California lottery signs to the Amy scene having the visible 6th/hill st intersection. But Nikki says she’s 7 hours away from Las Vegas, and online searches show a conflicting result of the movie being set in Eugene, Oregon and LA. My question is — where the hell is this supposed to be set!? Even if it was Eugene with terrible continuity, that wouldn’t be 7 hours from vegas.

And on that note — what year is this supposed to be?! Everyone’s mugshots say 1986 and Ross keeps having to use pay phones (no cell phone). But it also does feel 2000s-accurate at times, the PS2 and ICP footage.
