Just wondering if anybody noticed how it show their pupils constricting when they get high, anybody who has done speed or read up on it knows it makes your pupils huge. I also noticed while watching a movie about heroin (Requiem for a dream I believe) that when they injected heroin their pupils dilated which again is the exact opposite of what that drug does. I only noticed because I have done both drugs quite a bit and the biggest giveaway that somebody is on drugs is always their eyes.

Not really a huge deal but a fairly obvious mistake in both movies.

So drugs that get y ou up and jumping like meth, coke, ecstasy... get you're pupils dilated. While downer drugs like heroin, crack + weed contract your pupils?

I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

I can only say for sure speed makes them big, Heroin makes them pinpoint. But I think that is the general idea

Correct, but crack is 100% not a downer drug

Crack is NOT a downer! Lol. Crack IS cocaine just in freebase/rock form. Someone on coke/crack/meth/x will have huge pupils, like you can see through their soul.

Opiates (heroin or any of those popular pain pills) and weed (THC, psychoactive) are definitely downers though. Contracted pupils.

I've met enough stoners to know that weed will generally make someone's pupils dilate, so I disagree with that one.

As for everything else you've said, it's consistent with the medical literature I've read, and as I really haven't hung around with a hard-core drug-crowd, I'll have to take their word for it.

I'm sure I've encountered a few people high on things harder than weed, but it wasn't like I knew them well enough to know exactly what they were on...or stupid enough to ask.

it is a huge deal, to me at least.. it irritated me alot. i couldnt tell if they were getting high or coming down.. ha

Agreed. I got confused and couldn't tell if they were going up or down! As far as I'm aware, opiates are the only drugs that will give you pinprick pupils and other class As make them enlarged- dont know about hash/weed, though.
Cookie smoking off foil, followed by Spider injecting, made me think they were doing heroin but then they were chatting like mad, so I guessed you could use them for meth (I'm not from US, so thought it was a difference between countries). I was also surprised to see everyone snorting it, as I would have thought that would hurt- so for a while, I thought people were doing coke!
Still love this film, despite my discombobulation!

You just cannot generalize like that. For most users of (meth)amphetamines, the pupil diameter doesn't change noticeably at all (maybe a little bigger), what you see when you examine closely is that they stay kind of "fixed" i.e. don't adapt to brightness changes as fast. Plus, what gives most of them away, the eyes are WIDE OPEN as *bleep*.

No two people react to drugs in the same way. For sure, most users of MDMA get huge pupils but I've also seen some who don't. Some get bigger pupils when smoking weed, most of them smaller.

I thought the best image in Spun of what meth-eyes look like is the few seconds of glare given by Murphy's character, Nicki, at the prostitute who turns up at the hotel door, right before Nicki gives her a mouthful and slams the door in her face. Sort of glazed, and crazy and staring.
