'Be in two places at once.'

Jamie tells Landon that one of her goals is to be in two places at once. He accomplishes this by taking her to the state line, but I was wondering, what else could she have meant by this? Straddling the state line is one way to do it but I don't think that's what she had in mind.

Interesting question and I think you're right in that whatever Jamie meant by that wish on her "to do" list, it probably didn't involve straddling the state line, or anything else equally simple. However, what she envisioned is anyone's guess - perhaps somehow having to do with her faith and/or the illness that was no longer responding to treatment. Be that as it may, there's absolutely no doubt she was very touched by and highly appreciative of Landon's sincere effort to make that dream come true. From that night on, everything he did for Jamie was because he truly loved her and wanted to see her happy.

I suspect it was something fanciful she came up with to keep her motivated even though - like making a medical discovery - she did not really believe she would accomplish it. Her delight at Landon Carter's ingenuity was partly because it was so unexpected.

You could be right in that she may never have really expected any of those wishes/dreams to come to fruition. Which is why it was so special when Landon pulled off the "two places at once" for her. Also interesting to me is that he even remembered, as he was being such a jerk to her when originally told about the bucket list.
