Did anyone else feel embarrassed when...

...Landon's mom found his "to-do" list in his pocket? I don't know why, but I felt so embarrassed for him. When she started reading it off, it literally made me cringe! I guess I would be mortified if my parents found a list like that.

At least in Landon'’s case, nothing really embarrassing (or to make one cringe) was found on his “to-do” list. Quite the contrary, the items mentioned were all rather lofty goals and, if anything, his mother seemed to imply he was over-reaching in what he wanted to do. At that moment she obviously had no understanding of Jamie'’s life-changing influence upon her son.

At a time when cynicism masquerades as sophistication, [AWTR's] theme is worth touching upon.

She was a total bitch! She didn't believe in her own child! That scene breaks my heart.

Hardly. She just knew her son. None-the-less she acknowledged his ability to accomplish those goals if he truly applied himself.

agreed. we're also lead to believe it's late in the school year and it was WAY too late for him to pull himself together academically. that's not not believing him, that's being realistic. honestly, he probably went two years to community college and studied his ass off to go to a good school, and then medical school.
