What would Jamie think...

What would Jamie think of Lana (from Princess Diaries), or Hilary Faye (from Saved)?

reply

Well, admittedly, I haven't seen either of those movies. But, what little I've read and/or heard of them, Jamie certainly wouldn't have fit in with that crowd. However, I'm also sure she'd not have judged those girls too harshly as that's not the kind of person she was.

reply

Well, they were Mandy Moore's (unlikable) characters in those movies...and I agree. She'd have prayed for them instead. But this doesn't mean she allowed others to be cruel to her. If they mocked her to her face, she'd mock them right back. And those two would probably be no exception.

reply

No, you're right. If it came to it, she wouldn't have taken any guff from either of those MM characters....

reply

Exactly. Just because she was sweet and kind shouldn't be confused for weakness. She was also strong and no nonsense.

reply

Yes, and that was a nice adjustment they made from the Jamie character in the novel. While I don't think she was necessarily a pushover, her attitude was much more subtle, probably due to the time it was taking place.

reply

You're right. In the novel, she was subtle. In the movie, she was more blunt.

reply

they were also crueler to her in the movie. there wasn't much in the book she had to stand up for herself for.

to answer the question, both mandy's characters from TPD and 'saved' were essentially Belinda. they would have given Jamie all types of crap and had to deal with landon.

reply

Absolutely correct. In the novel, Landon gave her the business on that walk home, but at least not in front of anyone else. In the movie, Jamie got several dissings in the presence of others. Tougher situations, which is probably why they gave her more of a "tude" - and was totally appropriate.
