Could native speakers give me their input on the following?

My mother tongue's not English. Now normally, my comprehension is pretty decent. Like, when watching BBC, I get about 98%. But with this film, I understood, I dunno, probably LESS THAN HALF of all the dialogue. Why the heck is that? Is my English that much worse than I thought? Is it the military and/or Brit (?) lingo? Is it the dialect[s] the characters speak? ...

It's a combination of the slang, military terminology and the accents that deliver them.

"Totally Bone" sounds very different when delivered by a Londoner, Glaswegian, Geordie and Scouser... assuming you know what 'Bone' means anyway!

I'd actually quite relish the chance to translate this film - It's great!!
