Clark and lex friendship
Did you guys like that aspect, of the show or no? Just wondering? I love it because it's really sad in the end to know where it will lead, eventually.

Absolutely, i felt like it added another layer to the show and I can't see the show without Lex. Some of my favorite episodes are when they tease their future ("Onyx" comes to mind) or when they focus on Lex in general ("Memoria," "Shattered.") It also doesn't hurt that Rosenbaum is the best take on Luthor to date, and that the two have great chemistry together.
shareDefinitely! And a lot of people don't realize, but it's actually accurate with the comics, if you go by Silver Age/Pre-Crisis. You can see the basic story in this video, starting at about 1:35 and going to about 4:20, the rest of it is just a general video about Lex, but a pretty good one if you want to watch the whole thing. Anyway, yeah I loved how they not only kept that little part of the classic Superman/Lex story, but even expanded upon it, great touch!

Sorry, just came back and it looks like I forgot to include the link. Epic fail? Maybe, but better late than never, right?
Anyway, here it is: https://youtu.be/pojEr5P3cJM

Their development was literally the best aspect of this show.
shareIt was one of the best aspects of the show for me. Their bittersweet journey from being best friends to mortal enemies! And Michael Rosenbaum was amazing as Lex Luthor, imo.
shareBest part of the show, it was tough to watch because for me personally at least Lex was really likable, you know where he ends up but along the way I just wanted desperately for Clark to tell him his secret and they live happily ever after lol.
I think the only failing the show made with this relationship was the memory wipe in the last episode. Obviously Lex was going to know who Superman was when he revealed himself. The show should have just owned that instead of being afraid to be different than the source material.

I liked it a lot - not just Clark/Lex, but also the acting between Welling/Rosenbaum - and I really wish it had lasted longer, so it would have had even more impact when the two became antagonistic. As it was, we only had three years of knowingly ironic foreshadowing before it all went a bit sour.
To IMDB, or not to IMDB - because I've got some questions.
I can agree with that stebsmeister. I'd go as far as say that I wish that Welling and Rosenbaum had gone on to work together on a couple of other projects together. Not necessarily needing to be related to Smallville. They have great chemistry together.
