"like" training day

They now have the nerve to advertise this movie as "from the director of Training Day" and "its like L.A. Confidential meets Training Day"
Why don't they just come out and say it
"ITS EXACTLY TRAINING DAY WITH A WHITE DUDE INSTEAD OF A BLACK ONE!"

reply

first, if you saw an ad that said "from the director of Training Day", it was probably for Tears of the Sun, because this movie isn't from the director of Training Day. and second, I liked this movie better then training day and actually thought kurt russell's performance was a lot better then denzel washington's oscar winning performance of a corrupt cop. BUT HE PROBABLY WON'T WIN ANYTHING FOR IT BECAUSE HE'S WHITE!

Kurt Russell did a terrific job. This is nothing like training day because...

1. It's based on a true story.
2. The bad cop realizes the error of his ways at the end.
3. It doesnt have that crazy women Macy Grey in it.

"Training Day" is a good movie but "Dark Blue" is much better. Antoine Fuqua, the director of "Training Day" did not direct "Dark Blue", Ron Shelton did. "Dark Blue" was advertised as "Training Day" meets "L.A. Confidential" becuase the writer of "L.A. Confidential", James Ellroy, wrote the story for "Dark Blue." Also David Ayer wrote "Training Day" and the screenplay for "Dark Blue." You (jdhannan) posted this moronic message on a site that contained the information that I posted regarding the similarity to "Training Day" and "L.A. Confidential." "Dark Blue" was a better movie for a number of reasons. One reason is the backdrop (April 1992 shortly before the verdict in the Rodney King beating trial)is the perfect backdrop for a police thriller. Another reason why "Dark Blue" is a much better movie than "Training Day" is because of the acting. All of the acting was pretty good, especially Kurt Russell's portrayal of Eldon Perry. Kurt Russell gave an academy award worthy performance unlike the performance of Denzel Washington in "Training Day", which was clearly awarded as a racist political stunt.

This movie was made way before 'Training Day' was even in production. And the guy who wrote this movie, also wrote 'Training Day'. So obviously, 'Training Day' is copying this movie, and not the other way around.

And if I had to chose which one is better, 'Training Day' or 'Dark Blue', I would deffinatly choose 'Dark Blue'.

Training Day was pretty cool. Dark Blue was mostly a mess except for Kurt Russel's performance. Dark Blue is heavy handed and preachy. The LA riots are over a decade old so why set it as the backdrop here. And yes, all the white officers are evil or confused and the two main black officers are clean and have it together, except they committed adultery with each other. But hey, in Training Day, the black guy was evil and the white guy was honest! Back to Dark Blue, I think they could've totally did this movie without it being set against the riots. By the way, NARC is better than both Training Day and Dark Blue! Check it out. Also Elroy may never top L.A. Confidential...it squashes Dark Blue. If anyone wants to see a movie where the police aren't racist, rent "The New Centurions" - a forgotten 70s classic with George C. Scott & Stacy Keach...great movie. Its about police officers doing their job, not beating up people for being a certain race! Then go rent "Magnum Force"!

Other good cop movies:

Bullet
Seven Ups
Hard Boiled
Dirty Harry
French Connection
Serpico
Insomnia
Sea of Love

I thought the best part of Training Day was when the main characters is killed by the ruskis... only part of the movie i enjoyed.

You must either be joking or high. I'm banking on the latter. Kurt Russell couldnt act his way through a dish-soap commercial. And in comparison to Denzel? - well let's just suffice it to say Denzel picks his nose with more believability, while dozing off that is... Russell's performance was barely mediocre at best and deserving of nothing, save for a few acting tips maybe. And as for the supporting cast? Yikes! Scott Speedman sucked wind during his entire emotionally devoid, expressionless screen time, the otherwise decent Ving Rhames looked stilted and wooden, and the only saving grace for Michael Michele was her gorgeous looks. And lets not even get into the two lunkheads that played Orchard and Sidwell... Oh yes, by the way, just say no.

I was not joking and I was definitely not high. I agree that Denzel Washington is a good actor but his performance in Training Day was as worthy of an academy award as Titanic was for best picture, and Adrien Brody was for best actor in The Pianist. Kurt Russell is an excellent actor. In Dark Blue he portrays a character that actually develops throughout the movie, unlike the thug with a badge that Denzel portrays in Training Day. I did not have a problem with the character portrayals by any of the other actors in the film. I am not the type of moron who will accuse you of being high for having an opinion different than my own.

I must say that the storyline of the movie made me think about L.A. Confidential., not the same of course but still quite resembling. But it’s still a good cop film. Other great cop movies: Cop Land (with a good acting Stallone!)
Dirty Harry
French Connection
Insomnia
