Russell should get an Oscar for this.
That is all.

I agree 100%. Russell has been a consistently great actor for a long time, and keeps getting overlooked. This is his best performance to date, coming barely ahead of "Breakdown". If this doesn't land the man a nomination, Hollywood might as well give a damn oscar to Tom Green...
shareEveryone of you guys should know by now Oscars are a bunch of BS.
shareThe first scene in which Perry talks to his wife on the couch, beginning with the son's phone sex bill and ending with Perry saying "Goulash, huh?" was superb... Just shows the volatile personality of the character and if Russell were to get an award for the film, I think that scene would be what does it for him.
share I have been a fan of Kurt Since Big Trouble In Little. One of the most underrated actors of are time.
I agree with all of you. Kurt Russell is probably the most underrated actors in the business today. Although most of his material hasn't been the traditional works that the Academy chooses, this film should change that. But it probably won't. Unless the main character is mentally challenged, suffering from some type of physical abnormality, or psychologically impaired, the Academy tends to look the other way. If "The Hours" has been nominated for all of those Oscars and Kurt Russell isn't even nominated, I'll quit watching those b.s. awards!!!!
sharei wasnt a kurt russell fan and im still not... but youre right. he does deserve an oscar for this.
shareI agree Kurt Russell should get an oscar because the way he acted in the movie made it so watchable and more controversial.
share20+ years I've been a cop. Out-freakin-standing movie!! Pay close attention!

Very, very good performance by Russell, he just seems to get better and better with age, but what he did in "Breakdown" is still the best.

Russell was awesome in this. I wished he'd gotten an Oscar. He's fantastic
One of my favorite actors
"I guess it's a good thing I'm not one of them, huh? You guys got any milk?" - Henry Gale, LOST
Yep he deserves an oscar.
I think the scene where he rats out the other cops near the end was his best in this movie.
Basically, every scene he's in is oscar worthy. Pick any random scene, Kurt is outstanding. It's like Premiere magazine describes him, Russell is "eternally underrated". One problem is the film was released in late February, when Hollywood usually unloads its crap. It should have been released months earlier, so Kurt could get nominated.
sharetrue but the oscars get it wrong when it comes to the best acting awards and best film award 99% of the time. in hindsight i can say it's a disgrace kurt russell wasn't even nominated ,neither has gary oldman!!!!
shareWell, I think the film was too crappy for an Oscar to come from it. BUT, Kurt Russell more than carried his own weight. He was great. But then again, Training Day was a crappy movie as well, so maybe you are right.
