Deserves at least an 8.....not a measly 6.6

This is a great film with great acting from Gleeson, Speedman, Rhames, and most notably Kurt Russell. Why it constantly goes unrecognized and underrated is a complete mystery to me. The final 20-25 minutes are simply amazing.

Yep it is underated. I saw it at the cinema when i was in NZ, and had never heard of it, but the critic in the paper, said Kurt Russell gave a excellent performance, in a solid cop thriller.

I can only guess, that because Kurt Russell is usually in John Carpenter films that this maybe turned some people off. Thinking it would simply be no good, or that it would be too corny. On the contrary, Kurt Russell just shows how good of an actor he is. Brendan Gleeson is always reliable and convincing, and the story and pace of the film are good.

Perhaps because not much money was thrown at it, during its marketing, maybe it went under the radar.

I dunno about 8.0 but 7+ would not be unfair.

This movie made as much sense as a cow in a barber shop. I say it gets no more than 4 stars. It portrays non whites as criminals who loot stores for fun, joy and happiness. Is that really a true portrayal of inner city residents on the means streets of LA? I think not. I thought Training Day was a bad film, but after seeing this terrible movie I think Training Day is a masterpiece. This speaks volumes since I thought Training day was worst than Sibling Rivalry and Ishtar.
