shareRodney king got what he deserved
shareRODNEY KING WAS NO SAINT!! AND NEITHER WERE THOSE COPS!!
BOTTOM LINE: THEY'RE ALL AT FAULT!!
"You learn from the best...and the worst." - Uncle Jay, 9/14/94
Saint or not, Rodney King didn't take an oath to enforce the law. I don't view six police officers assaulting somebody (white or black) with night sticks as an acceptable method of detaining an unarmed drunk driver.

If he had ran your little girl over u wouldn't defend him LOL - everybody who drinks and drives deserves such beating if not worse.
shareDude the term Rodney King ass whupping is offensive.
Shutup.
"If he had ran your little girl over u wouldn't defend him LOL"
It's not an issue of defending him. He didn't run anyone over if he did it would have been an issue but by your rationale, the cops should be allowed to gang up and beat anyone who "speeds" since people who speed are also capable of committing vehicular manslaughter.
I'm not supporting drink and driving but cops are supposed to enforce the law. Playing "wack a mole" with an unarmed suspect is unacceptable. Six cowards with badges beating up on one guy while he's on the ground is disgusting.

Well he didn't just stop, he caused a high speed chase that could've eneded pretty bad. They should've just take him to the precinct and beat the living **** there when no-one watched :-)

Too bad you (apparently) never got the opportunity to watch the entire tape, not just the last few seconds the media played ad naseum. King attacked the officers. Then they responded with a tactic called a swarm, which they were trained to do. If anything, fault the training.
And nobody is mentioning that all those officers were found NOT GUILTY during their state trial. When that wasn't good enough for certain groups. So they were tried on federal charges (remember that misconception about not being able to be tried twice for the same offense?)
Should the police beat innocent or defenseless people? No. But was Rodney King an innocent victim of cops looking for a reason to beat up a black man like some would have us believe? Nope again.

I never once implied that he was innocent.

If I had meant you, I would have said you....since I was replying to you.
But I didn't..... I said "like some would have us believe". Some, like the mainstream media, verious civil rights groups and others.
Thought this was interesting from wikipedia ( I know I know)
After the riots King was awarded $3.8 million in a civil case, and used some of the money to start a rap label: Alta-Pazz Recording Company.
After the riots, King moved to Fontana, California.
He was arrested again on charges of spousal assault in 1999. In 2001 he was ordered to undergo a year of drug treatment after pleading guilty to 3 counts of being under the influence of PCP and indecent exposure. [8] On August 27, 2003 he was arrested again on similar charges as his 1991 arrest. King was said to be speeding as he ran a red light while under the influence of PCP, and failed to yield to police officers.
Innocent or guilty, Im suprised he tried to have another go at the peelers again!

I'm not surprised at all. Whether or not and improper amount of force used won't change the fact that King is a career dirt-bag who doesn't know how to act like a law-abiding citizen.

No, Eldon Perry's character was not one of the cops who beat on Rodney King, but he was part of a unit unanimously disliked by people in South Central. His unit was a reason people rioted and were in a racially tense situation.
Bullsh@t. That's not why people rioted. They rioted because they are opportunistic jerk-offs with no ethics and an excuse. Going out and looking a store for supersoaker squirt guns, TV's and custom rims isn't an "expression of rage", it is an epxression of the fact that they have no morals.
The SIS was as you saw an overwhelmingly white unit (I saw no Black or Hispanic Cops in it) ran by a corrupt racist Jack Van Meter that would often corruptly pin a felony on a minority suspect.
Really, all we saw of the "unit" in the movie was Kurt Russell and his partner. Everyone else was in different units.
And in the movie, we saw them pin a crime on 2 people, one white and one black. You are really presuming the rest.
All the rest is a bunch of excuses. It doesn't matter if the LAPD had corrupt cops or not. It doesn't give people a valid reason to go out and destroy property, steal and commit violence in the name of "expressing rage".
BTW, trash like NWA are just as responsible as anyone else. They feed that thought pattern that was exhibited.

Doesn't matter to me how much tension was supposedly built up. Committing vandalism, theft and killing accomplishes nothing to change the situation.
And you can spin it how you want, but you can't convince me that a guy stealing a TV out of a store gives two sh*ts about anything besides getting something for nothing.
What this really was, when you strip away all the hug-a-thug feel good excuses is no different than a 4 year old throwing a temper tantrum. They don't like the situation and respond with an inappropriate, ineffective, often counter-productive outburst.
but they sure whupped Rodney's ass though LOL and he kept gettin back up LMAO
