Avoid this one!
Lacks focus.Constant theatrical religiose speeches are a real cringe factor. It put me to sleep!
shareI liked the battle-scenes, and the character of Stonewall Jackson, and Chamberlain's stirring poem about the Rubicon. People oftwen spoke theatrically and religiously in those days. My only letdown was th big leap from First Manassas to Fredericksburg, skipping Jackson's finest hour, the Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1862.
shareBy no means avoid it! I agree progression has it's gaps and I would have hoped for a larger narrative for Lee (Duvall was very underused I think). Stephen Lang's performance is hand's down his greatest I think. Yeah this film has a particular audience, but if you have a passion for times true to nationalism, this is at remendous film!
shareSO wrong. It's very well done.
