Why did Tornado shanks come in and cpt murphy leave???

To pay their respect, the creators wrote his character out of the show instead of hiring a different voice. Ironically, Tornado Shanks is voiced by Harry Goz's son, Micheal.

In the storyline, Captain Murphy left Sealab to fight in "The Great Spice War," and Tornado Shanks answered the classified ad they put in to fill the captain position.

you know what i would have done if i were in chagre of the show? harry goz knew he had a terminal illness when he started as cpt. murphy, so i would have done a reserve "write off" episode for him. where, in the episode, captain murphy leaves and the new captain takes over. i havent seen the last murphy episode, and from what ive heard it wasnt really like this. it would have been nice to hear murphy's voice for one last time. anyone agree?
shareIt's unknown if Goz let anyone know how unwell he was until the very end, or even if Goz himself knew. Things like that can take you by total surprise. I'd imagine he was probably more focused on treatments and things, trying to beat the disease for as long as he could, but again I'm just guessing based on experience with others. I don't know what his personal situation was like at the time.
I don't blame him or anyone else for not insisting on a proper wrap-up for his cartoon character, on top of everything else he and his family had to deal with.

I don't mind that Murphy left (My favourite) I just wish they made Stormy or Marco or Debbie or Quinn leader insted.
shareI still say it was the introduction of Tornado that ruined the show.
He just couldn't keep the show running as smooth as Murphy did.
My original idea, which probably would've worked alot better, would have been several episodes, where each cast member gets to be "Leader for a day".
Then have the fans vote on who was the best.
Capt. Hesh would've been my vote.
