I know the "E" in E. Honda's name stands for "Edmond" and the "T" in T. Hawk's name stands for "Thunder." But I've never seen what the "M" in M . Bison's name stands for. Does anyone know?
"As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.
I was reading that it was a translating error and put there accidentally, as in Japan Bison is Balrog and vice versa but they mistranslated it when it was released in America.
However, a few games and comics and what have you have retconned the M to stand for 'Master' but this is only a retcon, kind of how they eventually made Sheng Long into a character even though Sheng Long was originally just a mistranslation as well. http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Sheng_Long

You're a little bit off. According to the trivia section, in Japan, Bison is the Boxer, Balrog is the Spanish Cage Fighter with the Mask and the Claw and Vega is the final fighter one must face in Thailand.
I'm answering my own question here, but since the Japanese version has M. Bison as the boxer, I assume he's supposed to be a Mike Tyson-like character, because of the first initial and the rhyming. The names were switched around for the American release because of that similarity. So mabye it stands for "Mike."
_______ As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.
Yeah, with the boxer, it stands for Mike. This of course doesn't count for the American names. So, in the version where the dictator is called M. Bison, the M obviously does not stand for Mike anymore. They never established its meaning. But in the American version of "Street Fighter Alpha 3", he's called Master Bison a bunch of times.
