QWas the weed laced?
I was thinking of the scene from how high where the professer is unknowingly drugged with marijuana and then unlike alcohol he shows up to a pary and he actually dance and rhythym and this and that out of nowhere. if those talents are innate but undeveloped this situation is actually quite possible. it has happened countless times but not everyone that lights up automatically gets these abilities so there is an innate genetic factor as well. at the end of the day marijuana is a drug but a performance enhancing drug that is the number one abused legal substance in football something they might take your title away form you if you were tested for boxing unlike something that just couldn't help you like cocaine, etc. it applies more to the arts but it is not just crazy pothead talk because then the rules against it wouldn't be enforced... (unless it's just so overused like in football you would just have to ban every team.)
i take this seriously but then i started thinking of the more metaphysical aspect of this movie... and then started questioning whether the marijuana was laced the whole time...
anyway the concept behind how high is that a botonist developed a strand of marijuana to talk to dead people and get secret information to cheat his way into harvard.
i know that this is a comedy so that last part kind of makes it absurd but if the concept was modified for sci fi could you take it seriously?
that's the difference between this movie and the other dumb movie. to make something this good you have to be inspired and then you have to force yourself to care about stupid stuff even if you don't.
anyway these abilities have been tested (with or without pot) and marijuana may give an edge in inducing the conducive lucid state but the innate problem with this approach to simplify is that what would stop his friend from just telling him a bunch of lies when he imparts this psychic information? (when you pick up on psychic information even if you can somehow prove it's psychic such as two people felt the same thing you can't prove that the impulse was reality here, it could be someone day dreaming or coming up with a lie to get past something, etc.) well see the bonotist at the end of the movie developed a TRUTH SYRUM and used weed to mitigate nausea. What does that mean? I don't know anymore. But I think for the foundation of the movie to make sense silas would have had to been putting other herbs in the pot so that the ghost would be telling him the truth in the first place. it would make the movie far more credible by science FICTION standards...
any thoughts? I got to watch the movie again just to make sure i don't have to take anything back... It might even be stated in the movie though that the guy was mixing other herbs in the weed.
The irony is that the average person that sees this movie is just as likely to say the concept is that weed makes you tell the truth but i don't the concept is in there at all unless you think that all the main guy did was give pot and that was the truth syrum. i don't know if there is any scientific basis for the idea that weed makes people tell the truth but i think regardless of paramaters for any such study any person doing something illegal like smoking pot is more likely to lie because they're doing something illegal in the real world... who knows.
but there is scientific foundation for **exploring** the the other concepts presented in the movie...
