So they decided to sneak away at night WHILE he's home??

Instead of doing it in the day time when he is at work? or doing it when he is away on a business trip or with his lover or something? Really?

She might as well had kept living at home, not questioned him about where he was going to avoid all arguments from that point on. Go undercover during the day to get the training she ended up getting at the end, drug him one night when he got home and then beat him up while he was under the influence.

ANd set him up too so that when he was travelling they would find drugs and the gun in HIS suitcase.

Plus her real dad looked like he had connections of some sort....why couldn't he send some guys to scare Mitch into leaving her alone.

I used to love this movie until I realized it didn't make any sense.

I figured she didn't leave while he was away, because he had people watching her every move. Remember how he knew she had gone to the diner to see Ginny?
She must have figured no one was watching her until Mitch left the house.
What I had wondered about (you did as well) was WHY didn't she drug him first??
Put a couple sleeping pills in his dinner wine or something? Not enough so he'd 'notice' he was getting too sleepy, but enough to make him tired enough and sleep soundly.

And I don't think scaring Mitch would work. He was a psychopath, and had a lot of money himself.
What made NO sense to me was why the hell didn't she go to the police either time he struck her...or go to the police when he shoved Gracie?!

That still does not matter because she LEAVING it ain' like she planned on going back - she should have pressed her charges and then left with her daughter. It made absolutely NO SENSE to leave while he was at home at night. NONE!

I didn't quite understand what you were saying here.

I woulda drug him and beat the crap outta him! LOL

Since she'd decided not to press charges (for the first beating), she figured she'd get out of the house without anyone following.

When I said 'she must have figured no one was watching her until Mitch left the house' I meant she must have thought that the instant Mitch left the house each morning, someone came to watch Slim and where she goes.
But that lookout may not be there when Mitch is home, so she may have figured she was home free....if she could sneak out while he slept.

If she snuck out while he was gone, she'd be followed no matter where she went: to a shelter, to a friend's house etc.
Even the police would only give limited help. She needed to disappear.
But in order for the film to progress, she had to be 'dumb' and do things like call Mitch (for her daughter sake THAT WAS X-TRA DUMB OF HER), call Joe or her mother-in-law.

Yeah exactly Mitch knew she'd would try to escape when he wasn't home so he had her being watched when he wasn't home. I guess they figured he wouldn't have anyone watching her at night since she was home with him.

Even if he had someone watching her. It would still be easier to escape that way than escaping while he was still in the house.

Lets say she was being followed while she was driving. All she had to do was switch cars with one of her friends. Without the guy following her knowing. So that way the guy following her would be following her friend instead. She even did this trick at the end of the movie.

You see wouldn't that have been easier. Instead she and her friends got beat up and she could have got them killed. And Mitch would have gotten away with it since they were in his property illegally.

I understood why she snuck away with him home, but why didn't she drug him or something so he wouldn't wake up??
Nothing big, just a couple sleeping pills dissolved in his nightly drink or something.
