What happens to Slim after she murders she husband

Slim thought she was all that after she murdered her husband. She thought she had covered all her tracks, but the cops decided to do some more snooping and were wondering why the heck would Mitch have put his knives in with his veggies and why were his guns in odd places. Then they wondered why Slim would have peacefully come back to her husband to discuss custody problems when she was running for her life from him for months. Then they figured out that the letters she put in Mitch's desk were fake and she broke into his house and murdered him. Just two months after Slim murdered Mitch, she was arrested for breaking and entering and murder. However, the judge decided to give her a little bit of a break since she was a battered wife trying to protect her child from gaining custody of her daughter. Instead of getting a life sentence, she got a 50 year sentence and Mitch's mother got custody of Gracie. Gracie now has to go without a father and a mother and is being raised by Mitch's mother.
