Targeting Jennifer Lopez/Over-Criticizin g Movies

In my opinion I thought this movie was pretty good. A lot of people say JLo is such a horrible actress, but I don't really see that. She's not THAT terrible. I think I would have to say I prefer her acting to her singing. I've always enjoyed her movies (Shall We Dance is one of my favorites), even though they aren't meant to be Oscar winners.I feel like people put down this movie just because she plays the protagonist.

I also think sometimes people take movies so seriously. Movies are meant to entertain, not to portray every single realistic detail ever. If that was true we wouldn't watch movies. We'd just sit around watching each other. Like I read on one of the threads, "why didn't she just shoot him or something?" Well if that's all she did, it wouldn't be a) interesting at all and b) wouldn't show her developing her strength to fight back. Imagine how anticlimactic that would be if she just went and shot him.

Just a piece of my mind. Any thoughts?

Her acting isn't horrible, it's maybe average. Actually there's nothing about this celebrity that is anything better than just average. Nothing but her success for some reason! Perhaps that's why people do criticize harshly. Maybe that's frustrating to some. I can relate. I don't give her much thought but when I see her perform anything it's like a big... HUH? Oh well.

I agree with your entire post, Wendekroy. Virtually everything about J. Lopez is average. There are TIMES when she can look above-average, but basically she's just a pretty face with nothing overly original about it.
Her voice is annoying too, her speaking voice. Her singing is OK, her acting OK.
The only film I actually found her to be above-par was "Angel Eyes".
For some reason, she was phenomenal in that movie!

Jennifer Lopez is a crappy actor, crappy singer, and is only notable for her ass.

I had to laugh when I read one of the IMDB reviews of this movie. Seems the guy writing it had been watching a completely different movie. No wonder he thought it was bad. He had conjured up in his mind some plot points that never actually take place in the movie and rather than admit that his own imagining of a story like this was actually what was bad, he projected it onto this movie. I got the feeling he was pretty misogynistic himself.

I know, EVERYONE has a damn opinion nowadays and they are so full of themselves. One poster referred to people who do that as "lazy boy critics" and I like that term. I do agree that Jennifer Lopez is better as acting. I really like some of her old songs especially the song she sings at the credits of this movie, that's probably my all time favorite. She has had at least three movies made that I really like: The Wedding Planner, Enough and Selena. There's also a few others like Angel Eyes and Cell that was pretty popular. I just think she should chose better movies and do more music that sounds "mature". I think her downfall is doing films like "The Back Up Plan" that didn't do too well and her movies just hasn't evolved as she has at all.

I agree. I do prefer her acting to her singing. Her dancing is great too. She should stick to the acting and dancing and cut out singing. I mean, some songs she's done were great but...her vocals weren't/aren't that great. Amazingly, she sang well in "Selena" and acted beautifully. Tear worthy performance and ppl keep forgetting that Selena was her first big role. JLO isn't a bad actors. There are worst actors who are dry and blah.

It goes for most of the movies starring Jennifer Lopez, and some other movies.

And to some, all movies should be a hundred percent realistic for some reason. Not only that, but also that the characters should act the way they would have... it's just weird. "OH NO I WOULDNT DO THAT! SO UNREALISTIC! WHAT A BAD MOVIE!" It just doesn't make sense.
