Howcome she broke up with Joe in the first place? He seemed like a nice guy.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought Joe was dead. That whole spiel about "Your boyfriend is fishing for his guts at the bottom of the lake" and "You can't prove murder if you don't have a body" definitely makes it sound like he offed Joe by tossing him in a lake. Which makes sense, since we don't see him for the rest of the movie.

shareI think when Joe and Slim were in bed and kissed in the middle of the movie, she makes a comment that he has to leave to go back (out of town) the next morning. It was just a short term visit.
