So was Mitch head of the mafia or something?

Im just curious because he seem's to have alota friends thats willing to help him out with what ever he wants like those 3 or 4 guys that search the apartment. Ya it's said he has friends in the police department but they did'nt act like cops especialy the one that pulled out the switchblade.

He also talks as if he can make anything he wants happen like planting drugs or having your car's lugnuts messed with etc. Im just curious how the hell does he go from loveable construction worker to high powered mafia leader with friends that will kill for him? It all just seemed so unrealistic how the hell could he have that much power?

I could have killed every last one of them within minutes and what would that have proven.

He has money, and you know the saying "Money talks".

his parents are loaded, and they love their precious jewel of a son, enabling him to get away with anything.

The above posters are right. Not only were Mitch's parents loaded and more than a little nuts themselves, but Mitch was rather wealthy in his own right.
Lots of money buys lots of options.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Agreed. He had way too much influence for an average, though wealthy construction guy. I also didn't understand why that one cop was willing to misuse his powers, actively search an innocent woman and even risked losing his job only for Mitch. I mean, was he in love with him or what?

Aside to that, what was going on with this one lawyer she was asking for help? I don't think any professional lawyer would tell a client "You have no chance, he's going to win, also they are going to kill you!". Seriously...

I think the officer basically had his nuts in a vice because Mitch had more power and influence than him. Mitch could basically make him disappear if he wanted to.

He got in deep with Mitch picking up girls with him, like the picked up Slim, and now he can't get out.

If wealthy construction people really have that much influence and can impose pressure on police detectives and even can make them "disappear" and if "picking up girls" is really a business you can never get out of, then good night America.

lol
Point taken. :0)

If you listened to the conversation between him and the cop you would understand that they were best friends for many years and that the cop was already doing bad illegal things.

Mommy and Daddy are filthy rich and never told him no. As an adult he never outgrew being a spoiled brat and managed to convince people to do what he wants because he has "influence" (aka a trust fund). Typical 1%-er.
