seen the film for the first time

The film has exceeded my expectation. I thought it to be a ganster film, but there were more elements. Very impressive, the musicscore very beautiful.

Here we don't see many Australian films, but see more Australian actors and actress in American films. Australian should be proud of.

There are a few good australian movies it's just that most of them are limited release in australia only and don't make it to the US. however, a lot of our good actors go to hollywood.

Here is a list of some good aussie films:

Gallipoli - This is an excellent war film, with a very emotional ending...one of my favourite mel gibson films.

The Devil's Playground - This is an older movie (70's I think) but it stars a young Simon Bourke.

Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert - Not my type of movie but it is quite popular.

Rabbit Proof Fence - really good movie.

The Proposition - really good, you should check it out if you liked Ned Kelly.

The Castle - I think you need an Australian sense of humour to understand this movie.

Wolf Creek - a bit scary

Others include Somersault, Shine, Kokoda, Lantana, Little Fish, Jindabyne, Looking For Alibrandi (good coming of age movie), Murielles Wedding, Strictly Ballroom...And then theres Baz Lurhmans movies like Romeo + Juliet or Moulin Rouge...I am really looking forward to his upcoming movie about the bombing of Darwin (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455824/). And movies shot in Australia include Babe & Mad Max.

I agree. Some of my favourite Aussie films would have to be-

Lantana
Swimming Upstream
Jindabybe
Shine
The Dish
The Castle
Rabbit Proof Fence
Look Both Ways
Ten Canoes
Little Fish

It's a Geoffrey Rush thing, you wouldn't understand!

I havent seen Ten Canoes yet but I want to. I've heard it's good. And I was a bit reluctant to see Kenny but my friends seem to like it.

reply

Haha I haven't seen Kenny as yet. Ten Canoes is excellent, a very interesting film. I have definitely grown more fond of Aussie films in the last few years, I was never really into them that much.
