How Historically Accurate Is This Movie?

I know a lot about the history of the real Ned Kelly but I have not seen the movie. Does this movie give a good accurate depiction of the facts and history of Ned Kelly's story, or is it your typical Hollywood movie that uses some truth and greatly distorts/exaggerates what really happened? Is the movie un-biased too?

Since nobody's replied to you in a very long time, I figured I'd do so immediately after first reading up on Kelly, and then watching the movie myself. You may not be wanting to know any more, but somebody else might do.

The short answer: it's mildly accurate.

A good number of the real details are in place in the right order, or hinted at. However, many important events are ignored completely, several are changed significantly, and quite a few fictional events make their way in too - mostly to romanticize the story, and make Kelly more obviously a "hero" character.

The net result is a story which I wouldn't consider worth your time from a historical point of view. That's not to say the movie isn't worth watching so long as you tell yourself it is a work of fiction that somewhat resembles factual characters.

Well this film isn't actually based on history but the book 'Our Sunshine' by Robert Drewe, so I guess a better question would be whether the book is historically accurate.
