WHOSE PERFORMANCE IS BETTER IN THIS MOVIE, HEATH OR BLOOM?

ALTHOUGH I'M A BIG FAN OF BOTH ACTORS, I REALLY GIVE THEM MY CONGRATS FOR DELIVERING SUCH BRILLIANT PERFORMANCES IN NED KELLY. HEATH OBVIOUSLY HAS A LOUDER BOOMING VOICE THAN BLOOM, BUT ORLANDO CAN REACH OUT AT YOU IN A WAY BEYOND EXPECTATIONS. SO MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THEY BOTH HIT THE MARK... A TIE.

Heath was better imo, and did a great job playing Ned. Orlando was good for being Orlando thou.

yes a tie it is, theyre different parts for different people.

The best performance in this film is by Laurence Kinlan as Dan Kelly. That's obvious to anyone who has seen this movie. You only talk about Ledger and Bloom because they're famous. Grow up!

reply

Actually it may be because they played the two leads?? Geoffrey Rush and Naomi Watts are famous, they aren't mentioned are they? And personally I agree, it's a tie because they're two different characters played by two different people. Dan and Steve are great too though.

Corpuscle, that was a bit rude. Also, it's not 'obvious' to anyone who has seen this movie, because it's your opinion that Laurence Kinlan gave the best performance. Personally, I think Philip Barantini (Steve Hart, for everyone who doesn't know) gave a better performance than Laurence did, but I'm not yelling at people because they don't agree.

and then came brokeback mountain and the dark knight!

I concur with this statement. He was the only character I rooted for.

reply

I'd go with Heath....cause...well Heath is a good actor and Orlando isn't.

I thought Heath Ledger in the primary role was allowed to be a stronger character and Bloom in a lesser role was more conniving and a lady's man. Both were very good and the movie itself was surprisingly well done. The song, "Shelter For My Soul" by Bernard Fanning was very moving. I originally hadn't expected much from this movie and only wish that Fiztpatrick could have been "taken care of" early on.

I'm going to have to go with Mr. Bloom simply because of his last scene. The broad and surprising range of emotions his displayed in that one scene was amazing, and evoked so many emotions in the person who was watching... my thoughts were conflicted when I was watching him act that scene, but I couldn't help but feel amazed by his portrayal.

I have never thought that Bloom can act, but after seeing this movie I have totally changed my oppinion about him. This is the best movie he has done, but I think that Heath is also very good in this movie, but I have alwais enjoied his acting, so I have to say that they were bolth great in this movie.

For those who expect to watch a "heroic" epic of Kelly Gang would be certainly disappointed.

Heath Ledger was set to play a "human" Ned Kelly, an ordinary tough guy who had fed back whatever he felt unjustice done on him and his family. Poor and undereducation was his background, how could Ned Kelly set to speak or act like a congressman. Moreover Ned Kelly was only 25 when he got hanged. Therefore the director was royal to the material and Heath Ledger has done a good job based on the material.

Heath had the meatier role, but what Orlando did in that final scene was brilliant.

Lets face it there were some talented actors in this film. Australian and foreign alike. They all served their purpose well.

Congrats to the director for letting them shine.
