What was wrong with Julia's horse and what did she do to relieve it?

Oh, sorry. If memory serves -- the horse had a problem where it couldn't urinate, so Ned shoves something up its penis that relieves the bladder and the urine comes out.

Actually Ned held it--Julia asked him if he "could hold my horse's thing"--while she put the object inside it.

It.was.canceling. It's.bladder was paralyzed by colic (so she.said) and the metal tube catherised its.penis to drain the urine and.relieve the pressure so the bladder wouldn't rupture. A ruptured bladder causes deadly peritoniitis.
