Forshadowing Vice City?

Have you noticed in the downtown district, that some of the billboards say See You in Miami? Miami is known to be 'Vice City'.

I don't know, I thought it was somewhat ironic.

Also, in the Portland hideout, there are posters of Miami on the wall.

And also, after the mission where you take Ray to the airport, after you find his lockup, he pages you saying "See you in Vice City".

vice city is a fictional town in miami.

reply

maybe since vice city and vice city stories are set back in the 80's whereas this is set in the year 2001 maybe they changed the city name from vice city to miami by 2001 after 1986 (Vice City Stories) to miami in 2001 (Grand Theft Auto 3)

reply

Well, if I remember right, in the first GTA, you play in Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas.
So the names have been around for a while

reply

It's hinting at where the next game will take place. Were there any in Vice City about LA or San Andreas?

right. also vice city is based on the Miami Vice area

reply

I remember hearing on the radio in Vice City about a San Andreas football team going against the Vice City Mambas. This hinted at another GTA city, but at the time, Rockstar were probably deliberating on what to make of that city, since many wanted to see LA, SF, and LV, hence, Los Santos, San Fierro, and Los Venturas, which is San Andreas.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.
