This 'comedy' fails to make me laugh on almost every level. I like comedy's especially the older ones but this film is truely awful. It's not funny, has terrible jokes, relys on gross humour but without being funny, script is bad and the acting makes me cringe. Why parody a genre that's not very good in the first place anyway? There's nothing intelligent or funny about it.
Well why dont you shut up and be happy with the rating it got, OP.
Its got a 5.5 rating and that is terribly low, IMO. I'll admit I didnt like it at first either but with each rerun it became funnier and now I am on here defending its brilliance. I actually just voted it a 10 because this movie is perfect for what it is(well not every joke/scene goes over well but u cant expect them all to be funny)andf deserves a much better rating.

Well, isn't that sort of the point of parody? Attacking something that is spectacular in every way would come off as forced and desperate. And, despite the teen comedy not being the most thought provoking of genres (though there certainly are some diamonds in the rough), it was immensely popular during the release of the movie (as were the 80's/90's comedies it references). The genre being popular, but flawed, makes it (forgive the cliche) ripe for parody.
As for the "bathroom humor", it is a likely due to its proliferation within the teen comedy genre. You're right, most of it is not that funny. Then again, that's kind of the point. The comments and jokes that follow the "bathroom humor" is where the actual comedy lies, as it should. If they were to parody "bathroom humor" with hilarious "bathroom humor", it wouldn't be much of a parody.
this movie is incredibly smart. just compare it to the really *beep* movies like date movie, her movie etc... the guys who make those movies are horrible. it pains me to know that they make money off of such drivel.
this movie is in my top 10 comedies. my own personal opinion. if it's on tv, i just have to watch it. i still laugh my ass off.
if they hadn't of done what i told them not to do, they would still be alive. - mr. blonde
My problem with these movies is that they try and drag the "jokes" out too long. OK, there's the guy from American Beauty, and there's the plastic bag. I get it. Move on to the next one. I got especially tired of the whole "supposed ugly girl takes off glasses and undoes pony tail" thing. Yeah, we have all seen countless movies that do this. We have all remarked about it. It just does nothing to keep bringing it up over and over. I guess that you could say it's ironic, but I have a thing for females in bib overalls, and it was part of why I lasted through the whole movie. The exception to this rule was Ed Lauter, in that the repetition of the same thing WAS the joke. It's almost the only role he ever plays. I found that funny, but not terribly. I liked the musical number, that was different.
Different things make different people laugh. That's the way it is. I can see what the jokes were trying for, they just weren't done in a way that I found funny. I've seen plenty of stupid movies that made me laugh until tears were in my eyes.
Most movies that I don't find funny will get me to LOL at least 1 time, but this one failed.
