I like this movie, but it is hard to watch

I think you feel that way the same way I feel about it.

I've watched it, and I don't know why, but it is truly painful to watch for me. I can't really put a finger on why, just I think it's probably Penn's Tone of voice for me.

I have a friend who has a mental disability, and I've been friends with him for almost 11 years. He's been more lively and about a 1000x smarter than some of my friends today.

But what made him so fun to be around was that he had a personality. He loves Star Trek and Star Wars, and he could make you respect Captain Kirk or someone like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo more than any fanboy could.

Sam lacked any real personality. Sure, he talked about The Beatles. I know a girl that I went to High School with that talks about the Beatles, and she has a personality too.

Sam didn't have much of a personality and his voice became grating. Again, my good friend had a way of talking that made you believe in those Fictional characters in galaxies not like our own.

I think Penn did a fine job as Sam, but his performance maybe could have had some adjusted inflection somewhere. The movie might not have been so hard to watch then, at least a little bit.
