Something That I Need 2 Say...
Hello Folks:
I saw this movie a short while ago, and I thought that it was OK. However, I have one very BASIC question. This question may offend some very senstitive viewers, but I think that it is necessary to bring this matter up and to every one else's attention, given the fact that there is a very OBVIOUS concern that needed to be pointed out towards the beginning of this movie. The question is: WHAT THE HELL IS A HOMELESS WOMAN SUCH AS REBECCA (played by actress Caroline Keenan) WHO CANNOT EVEN SUPPORT HERSELF DOING LAYING DOWN WITH A MENTALLY CHALLENGED MAN IN THE FIRST PLACE? DID SHE EVEN BOTHER TO THINK ABOUT WHAT SHE WAS GETTING HERSELF INTO BEFORE SHE GOT INTO IT (OR BEFORE SHE LET HIM "GET INTO HER")? WAS SHE REALLY THAT STUPID? DID SHE THINK THAT NOTHING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AFTER SAM AND SHE HAD SEX TOGETHER? I mean, I know that Sam shares some responsibility too, even though he was retarded and everything, but damn, this homeless woman completely disappeared from the scene after she gave birth to Lucy; no hide or hair of her or nothing. Even though Sam was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, at least he BOTHERED to at least try to nurture and raise his baby daughter. It's just that for the life of me, I do not even know why would that woman - give the dire circumstances she was in - spend her time and energy sleeping with a man who is not only financially weakened but also mentally inept? I could not understand her reasoning. (I myself am not a billionnaire/millionnaire or otherwise by no means perfect, but I am at least a somewhat mentally capable guy who is holding down TWO jobs, and I cannot even get any "regular" or even any destitute chicks to even smile at me, say "Hi" to me or even give me the time of day; Sam was doing much better in getting women more than I was! What was his secret?) After all, I certainly do not think that Sam raped Rebecca; she would have had some serious charges filed against him, nor do I think that she was a prostitute because she would have probably wanted a lot of money from him that he did not have. So what I am trying to figure out is, what caused this homeless woman to sleep with this retarded man in the first place? Was she just lonely and looking for someone to spend the night with? Is anyone able to explain why someone would purposely make the perceived mistake that this woman - along with this man - made?
Other than that, the movie was OK. I liked Michelle Pfeiffer's character (Rita) in the movie; she was almost a completely cold-blooded b---h. I liked the way she and Sam raced that automobile through the highway on their way to their hearing, and I liked the way she kicked open that door when he would not answer, before she found him barricaded in that corner behind all of that stuff. I especially liked the parts also when she kicked that coffee table over, and when she said, "Home, goddammit!" I thought those parts were funny. I know that she was ugly acting sometimes, but she was still sexy. (Some women are very sexy when they're mad!)
