Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is what happened to town folks of Dogville. Does anybody agree the same happened to Grace in the end as Punishment given by her was not justifiable to the crimes.
I don't agree. What Grace saw was that the town and people ware so morally corrupt and so evil that the best thing to do was to end it forever. In the end, they reaped what they sowed. There just wasn't any hope for these people, hence no forgiveness could be given. Like a serial killer and most pedophiles there is no "cure." They have to be removed from society at large. In her mind, it was the right thing to do.
Does her actions meet the standards of accepted moral values in a civilized world? Not for me to judge because I can't put myself in her shoes but I also can't condemn her action because under the circumstances she thought the punishment fit the crime. Sort of like the death sentences given to the NAZI war criminals.
I suppose from a Christian standpoint that she should have given them a chance to repent and them forgive them but it is from many Christian standpoints that some criminals deserve the death penalty (like the NAZI leaders). I can't speak for Christians either but my personal opinion was that she was correct in her decision.

The problem is : she was the only one to decide ? Who was she to decide ? Is the victim of reprhensible acts the best person to decide the sentence. Personnaly, I don't think so...

Grace saw the townspeople -- except for the dog -- to be mean, vicious types that would no doubt victimize the next "lost soul"/poor schmuck that wandered into that town....and let's face it, they victimized Grace BECAUSE THEY COULD, and when they chained Grace like an animal, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON in town stood up and said, "Hey, this is WRONG to treat a fellow human bean in this way!!!" Tom TALKED a lot about lofty ideals and philosophical concepts, but he went along with their debasing and mistreating Grace...he couldn't bear the thought of "alienating" his fellow townspeople...either that, or all he cared about was himself.
that baby was the worst one of them all, the evil mind secretly running the show, making all of the decisions, behind the scenes, while the townsfolk pretended to have influence
