Remember the episode about tge pharmacist?

The title was "Malignant". The pharmacist was diluting chemotherapy drugs to make extra money to give to his church.

I just saw an episode on the "Greed" series that plays on the Escape digital network that was about the real pharmacist the LOCI episode was based on.

I felt the slightest bit of sympathy for the pharmacist on LOCI. He was getting a lot of pressure from his wife and minister to keep making the big donations.

Not so for the real pharmacist. His name was Robert Courtney and he was in Kansas City. Just pure evil. Diluted almost 100K chemotherapy prescriptions for over 4K patients. He was generous with his church but wasn't strapped for cash. He had $19 Million in the bank when he was caught. He's serving 30 years.

And people can't figure out why some question the legitimacy of cancer drugs actually accomplishing anything. It would be very interesting to know of all the cancer deaths how many of them were taking 'treatments', perhaps there's more diluting going on than anyone even knows about.

I didn't feel any sympathy for him. Yes he was getting pressure, but so what? Choosing to play with people's lives was certainly not the answer. He was a medical professional and someone on whom patients depended to be trustworthy. His diluting the cancer medicine undoubtedly caused needless deaths (we find out about one during the episode), so no sympathy from me at all. He could have found another way to deal with his problem.
