Pretty good movie. Brit can act.

I know this might go against some opinions, but I think Britney did a really good job in this movie. She has some great emotional scenes and she pulls them off really well. The movie is pretty good too.

Me too. I liked it.

It is a pretty good movie. People just hated it so much because they hate Britney Spears. Back in 2005 I hated her too, and when this movie came on the TV, I flipped the channel. But I just recently finish watching the entire movie, and I have to say it's not a bad movie at all. Britney can act.

I agree. I never intended to see this in a theater. I had a lazy day sitting around and this came on Showtime. It was a "couldn't find the remote" event, so I jelled and kept it on. I had ZERO expectations, considering it simply a Britney vanity project. I was surprised that it was better than I would have given it credit for. Sure, it was cheesey, predictable, and familiar, but I thought it was well cast and, for what it was, well directed (although the version of Joan Jett's I Love Rock and Roll was atrocious.)

The pleasant surprise was Britney's acting. She could do the role, and she shared it well with Saldana (by far the best actress among the leads) and Taryn Manning, who for me was the real discovery in this film.

I gave this a lazy chance and wasn't disappointed. It was a couple hours of harmless fun, and I'll choose this over any Michael Bay flick any day. I understand how this is a guilty pleasure, along the lines of Coyote Ugly and Bring It On as discussed on another thread. Those films aren't masterpieces, but they are good eye candy and entertaining.

Britney Haters need to give her a break.

It was definitely a vanity peoject but I felt Britney did good in it, I was very impressed by the bathroom scene where she talks about what her mother said to her

it's not a bad movie at all. if you don't feel bad when lucy admits her mom said she never wanted her, you're heartless. lol

It was NOT Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" it was The Arrow's "I Love Rock and Roll." Preceded Jett by a few years. She just covered it.

reply

Oh please, whenever anyone thinks of that song they think of Joan Jett. You probably bring that bit of useless info up every time someone refers to the song as Jett's. She made it what it is just like Whitney turned I Will Always Love You into a hit even though Dolly Pardon's version is the original.

Dolly's version is so much better than Whitney's. All Whitney did was cover it and add a bunch of vocal gymnastics. It was a hit for her (you got to give her credit for that), but it will never be truly her song. Just like a remake is never truly the new directors film. I agree btw that everyone thinks of Joan Jetts version when it comes to I Love Rock and Roll and I think she's awesome, but it was kinda a lazy cover, and the original group deserves credit for the song.

There is a natural charm about her. She comes off as very likable and sweet.

I think all the actors are brilliant in this movie. I've loved it for years. It's too underrated. Britney can certainly act.

reply

Brilliant? It doesn't take much to impress you now does it?

Yeah, this movie isn't too bad. I think its Glitter like reputation actually makes it look better when you watch it since it's a pretty easy watch. Britney was really awkward at first, but she either got better as the film went along, or I just got used to her. It wasn't a great performance, but it was ok. The movie overall is slight, but I like these road trip movies, and it was watchable (the middle section of the film was the most fun btw. I felt it lost a bit a steam once Britney met her mom).

Still better than Gigli, and a better love story than Twilight!
