That is exactly what I've always said. The novel was AMAZING, but with the addition of that mesmerizing score by Phillip Glass, the film is truly haunting. I loved every second of it.

Ditto. Rewatching it is worth it; but geezis it was tough to get through the first time. Then, at the very,very,very end, you think, "that was a good movie after all." Unlike "The Reader," in which no matter how many times you begin to watch it, you simply cannot make it till the end. You just want it to go away.
