Stilted dialogue
I saw this for the first time only last night - I've been on a Nicole Kidman kick recently - and whilst I thought it was beautifully made with great performances from all involved, I felt the dialogue felt very stilted and slightly awkward. Not just in one time period, but all three. Since it was so prevalent (to me, anyway) I'm wondering if it was somehow a concious effort on the director's part, as it wasn't just down to one particular actor or time period, as I said.
