Best movie of 2002 ?
Doesn't anyone here agrees that The Hours, alongside with The Pianist were way better than Chicago ? Don't you think is unfair that Chicago won for best picture in the 2003 Academy Awards? :/

I agree that The Hours were better and more deserving than Chicago. That being said, I did enjoy Chicago quite a lot and was not surprised about the nomination, but I was disappointed that it actually won.
I would have been ok with the Hours winning or The Pianist over Chicago. But Chicago was my 3rd choice, so I think it's ok, I guess...
"And the Oscar goes to... by a nose, Nicole Kidman!"
Chicago was my 3rd choice as well. The Hours (10/10) , Pianist (10/10) and then Chicago (9/10). The Hours for me was the best movie of 2002 and with one of the best performances ever, by the AMAZING NICOLE KIDMAN. :)
share2002 was the best year of the last decade without doubt , so it's not easy to determine the best movie of this marvelous year , but among the nominees for Oscar the best was "The Hours"
shareThe Hours was the best of the nominees...but Adaptation and City of God were better...Road to Perdition is right there with The Hours as well.
Even the most primitive society has an innate respect for the insane.
I think that The Hours is not only the best film of 2002, but the best film of the decade. I still do not get why it does not appear on any decade list that I have seen so far :-/
That being said, I did enjoy Chicago a lot. Hardly any musical could covey such an fun attitude.

I've seen both The Hours & Chicago many times. I love The Hours, but love Chicago more. They are drastically different genres, so comparing them is impossible. One leaves you clutching your chest and the other you walk out of whistling a happy tune. Both greatly appreciated, but if I could have seen only one of them.....I would want it to be Chicago. Purely a personal choice.
shareSure, actually I think it was the best film of the last decade. I enjoy Chicago alot and not surprised at all it won Best Picture, but The Hours is a masterpiece.
shareThe Hours should have won.
