That is what people do, stay alive for each other
That made me cry. So beautiful and so accurate in many ways.

shareMe too- and I'm not normally a crier. Yes it's both beautiful and true, and hearing that said in the movie ,I realized that both my dad and husband did exactly that for as long as they possibly could.
little girl: "what happens to us when we die?"
Virginia: "We go home."
and on another note- It took me a while to realize Virginia was Nicole Kidman, she didn't look like herself at all. She was great in the movie.
I thought she said " we go back to where we came from"
And the little girl said " I don't remember where that is"
And Virginia/Kidman said I don't either ( or neither do I)
Okay, now, I've got to see it again, because I, too, loved that exchange...
"What Happens? We return to the place where we came from"
"But I don't remember where I came from"
"Nor do I."
Yes, it is a beautiful exchange. And then Virginia laying her face next to the dead bird with almost an envy. You just feel how tortured she was....

I hope no one minds my questioning as well.
I was watching on TV (chopped between commercials) - so maybe I didn't quite get this part, but the way I kind of got it:
The children found a little hurt bird and the little girl wanted to save it / heal it. One of the women said that (sorry, way off on what was said here) basically it was nature's way - to let it die (something along those lines). I think there was talk of burying it? but, it had not yet died?
The little girl, felt so bad for the dying bird and walked off alone and gently laid the bird down in a quiet place - sitting there - treating it with reverence - wanting to do more, but at a loss. Virginia had followed and offered flowers for the bird; a tender moment followed. The moment was interrupted when the others loudly intruded and managed to distract the girl from her somber mood (distraction - a favorite technique employed by parents)- all going off.
Virginian remained behind with the dying bird; lying her head beside it - looking deep into the bird's eyes; watching the last flickering light of life.
What did she feel, looking into the dying birds eyes? I don't know - a fascination with this thing that happens to all of us; a wonderment? Respect? Protection? Compassion? Recognition of the fragility of all existence? Privilege at sharing this creature's last moment? and, maybe envy.
It is such a true comment and i think this rings true to anyone with suicidal thoughts
Do guys like "the thing"?
They like it better than no thing.
